Imperial Co., Calif.

"This camp which later became Fort Yuma was established in the fall of 1849 by Lieut. Cave J. Coutts in command of the Boundary Survey escort, under Whipple."   Farish.

Undoubtedly named after John C. Calhoun, the statesman.
