Greenlee Co.

Elevation 7,862 feet.  In T. 1 S., R. 32 E.  Crook N. F.  Few miles west of New Mexico line east of Blue river.  "In November 1870 at Silver City, N. M., citizens followed a raiding party of Apaches who had stolen most of the horses in the town.  John Bullard was captain.  They followed the trail into the region between Dry Creek and the Frisco river; struck the Indians and wiped them out.  Almost at the last shot an Apache fired point blank at Bullard who fell mortally wounded.  His body was brought to Silver City for burial.
