Bowie Peak

Cochise Co.

Map, Coronado N. F., 1931

In T. 15 S., R. 29 E.  Directly east of old fort.  General Miles mentions this peak in his Personal Recollections.  He states it was a heliograph station close to Fort Bowie during his Geronimo campaign.  Miles writes:  "It was the most important of all the stations in the number of messages handled."

  1. It a long hike up and down. There is no trail. I just went up one of the washes. Great view from the top. There is a log in book up there. There is a small depression in the rocks that may have been where the signal station was located.
