Apache Co.

Rises norhwest corner T. 6 N., R. 28 E., in White mountains on eastern slope Baldy mountain.  Flows east, south, and west around base of Baldy, through Apache N. F. and Ind. Res.  Joins White river to form Salt river about 15 miles west of Ft. Apache, near lat. 33° 48', long 110° 10'.  Emory, Oct. 26, 1846, calls this the "Prieto" (Sp. "Black or Dark"), which is the earliest reference found to this stream and its name.
