Heads at the "Rim," about 8 miles south of Heber, in T. 11 N., R. 16 E.  Runs northwest, enters Chevelon canyon at northwest corner T. 16 N., R. 17 E.  Except from melting snows or summer rains canyon is always dry.  Well water is found at moderate depths at Heber.  From the open valley below, the canyon shows a dark line which gives it the name.
