Black Bill Park, AZ

Black Bill Park

Coconino Co.

Map, Coconino N.F., 1928

In T. 22 N., R. 8 E.  An open park in the forest.  After an old timer known locally as "Black Bill."  Three miles northeast of Elden mountain.  "Black Bill West" (H. Conard) took up 160 acres of land in what is now called "Black Bill Park" through which he supposed a projected railroad to the Grand Canyon would pass.  The road was never built and he abandoned the land.  Died at the Pioneers Home in Prescott about 1926."  Letter, Harold S. Colton, Flagstaff.
