Big Dry Fork
Coconino and Navajo Cos.
On Sitgreave's map, 1851, also Smith's 1879, as Big Dry Fork. It is undoubtedly the present East Clear creek, which enters Little Colorado river from south, 3 miles east of Winslow. Sitgreaves in his list of camps, says it is "8 miles from Chevelon Fork" which is exactly the distance. Sitgreaves camped at this wash, Oct. 3, 1852, and speaks of the "deep, rocky canyon, utterly impassable. Had to cross it at its junction with the Little Colorado river." See Big Dry wash and Clear creek.
