Greetings

If you are new to Arizona Place Names you may want to take a moment to read the About Page to get an idea of what this blog is about and what I am trying to accomplish. Thanks, Peggy

Beaver Dam, AZ

Beaver Dam

Mohave Co.

"Settlement on Beaver Dam creek.  The people asked for a post office but the department would not accept this name.  So they compromised on Littlefield., q.v.  The Church records speak of the damage done to the pioneers' dams and ditches by beavers.  The Mormons claim this was the first Anglo-Saxon settlement in the original Arizona, 1863.  There is still a town called Beaver Dam but no P.O.  It is 3 miles east of the Nevada line."  Letter Walter Cannon, P. M., St. George, Utah.
