East end Rawhide mountains, in T. 12 N., R. 13 W.  North side Bill Williams river.  "Following down the bill Williams Fork we passed the mouth of the Santa Maria.  On the right a volcanic cone was named Artillery Peak."  Whipple's Report, 1854.  Marcou, his geologist says: "Whipple so named it.  It is in the southern end of the Cerbat range; is pointed and has blackish sides."
